To celebrate Barry Humphries landmark 50 years of entertaining audiences worldwide, we are proud to present an exclusive Limited Edition Set of four portraits taken by renowned photographer Lewis Morley.
The Edition features Barry and his best-known characters; Dame Edna Everage, Sandy Stone and Sir Les Patterson. They were taken at The London Studios in 1997 during production of the critically acclaimed television series Barry Humphries’ Flashbacks.
This is the first time the portraits have been offered for sale and the Edition is strictly limited to 30. Each photograph in the set is titled, signed and blind stamped by Lewis Morley and dated and numbered verso.
Barry Humphries long career began in the late 1950s when Mrs Everage first appeared on stage as a humble Melbourne housewife. She later morphed into the internationally celebrated ‘Housewife Megastar’, Dame Edna Everage.
The grandfatherly Sandy Stone is one of Barry’s best-loved characters, his ghostly presence and ‘hottie’ a reminder of gentler times long past. Australian Cultural Attaché Sir Les Patterson has strutted the world stage since the 1970s and is seen here resplendent in the fashionable attire of the decade - the Safari Suit.
Barry Humphries has entertained generations of Australians and captured the hearts of millions of people around the world through live performances, television, books and film.
The Barry Humphries & Friends portraits by Lewis Morley are a unique and lasting tribute to this remarkable artist.
